Holden: Adelante.

Holden: Come in.

Leon: ¿Le importa si hablo? Me pongo nervioso cuando hago un test.

Leon: Care if I talk? I´m kind of nervous when i take tests.

Holden: Por favor, no se mueva.

Holden: Just please don´t move.

Leon: Disculpe. Ya me han hecho .... un test de inteligencia este año. No creí que tuviera que someterme ....

Leon: Oh, sorry. I already had .... an IQ test this year. I don´t think I´ve had one of these ....

Holden: El tiempo de reacción es primordial. Por favor, ponga atención. Conteste lo más rápido que pueda.

Holden: Reaction time is a factor in this, so please pay attention. Now, answer as quickly as you can.

Leon: Muy bien.

Leon: Sure.

Holden: 1-1 8-7 Hunterwasser.

Leon: Yeah, sure I guess... that part of the test?

Holden: No, era solo por charlar, eso es todo.

Holden: No, just warming you up, that´s all.

Leon: No es que sea de mi agrado.

Leon: Oh. It´s not fancy or anything.

Holden: Esta usted en un desierto, caminando por la arena, cuando ...

Leon: ¿Eso ya es el test?

Leon: Is the test now?

Holden: Sí. Esta usted en un desierto, caminando por la arena, cuando, de repente, ...

Leon: ¿En cuál?

Leon: What one?

Holden: ¿Qué?

Holden: What?

Leon: ¿Qué desierto?

Leon: What desert?

Holden: El desierto que sea. No importa. Es hipotético.

Holden: It doesn´t make any difference what desert, it´s hypothetical.

Leon: ¿Y por qué iba a estar allí?

Leon: But how come I´d be there?

Holden: Quizás porque usted está harto, o quiere estar solo. Quién sabe. Mira hacia abajo y ve a un galápago que se arrastra hacia usted.

Holden: Maybe you´re fed up, maybe you want to be yourself. Who knows. You look down and you see a tortoise, it´s crawling toward you.

Leon: ¿Un galápago? ¿Qué es eso?

Leon: Tortoise, what´s that?

Holden: ¿Sabe lo que es una tortuga?

Holden: Know what a turtle is?

Leon: Claro.

Leon: Of course.

Holden: Pues lo mismo.

Holden: Same thing.

Leon: Nunca he visto una tortuga ... pero le comprendo a usted.

Leon: I´ve never seen a turtle ... but I understand what you mean.

Holden: Se agacha usted y pone el galápago patas arriba, Leon.

Holden: You reach down, you flip the tortoise over on its back, Leon.

Leon: ¿Se inventa usted esas preguntas, Sr. Holden, o se las dan escritas?

Leon: Do you make up these questions, Mr. Holden,or do they write them down for you?

Holden: El galápago yace sobre su espalda con el estómago cociéndose al sol y moviendo las patas para darse la vuelta, pero sin su ayuda no puede. Y usted no le ayuda.

Holden: The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun beating its legs trying to turn itself over but it can´t, not without your help, but you´re not helping.

Leon: ¿Qué quiere decir que no le ayudo?

Leon: What do you mean I´m not helping?

Holden: Quiere decir que no le ayuda. ¿Por qué es así, Leon? [ pausa ] Sólo son preguntas, Leon. En respuesta a la suya le diré que me las dan escritas. Es un test hecho para provocar una respuesta emocional. [ pausa ] ¿Quiere que sigamos? Holden: I mean, you´re not helping. Why is that, Leon? [ pause ] They´re just questions, Leon. In answer to your query, they´re written down for me. Leon: ¿Mi madre?

Holden: Sí.

Holden: Yes.

Leon: Le voy a hablar de mi madre. [ Leon dispara a Holden repetidas veces ]

Leon: Let me tell you about my mother. [ Shot fired ]
