About the Itineraries
The following selection of programmed birding tours in Venezuela will be understandable to the beginner and greatly enjoyable to experienced amateur and professional. Based in our field experience many birders are hard to please, that´s why these itineraries are carefully designed to fill the critical needs of any professional bird trip, like; time improving, accessibility, safeness, guides, localities, transport, permits, accommodation, meals, punctuality, and of course the birds you are looking for. All the Itineraries are based strictly on protected areas, like National Parks, Natural Monuments, Wildlife Sanctuaries or Forest Reserves, other places are our personal choice.
Trips extensions: We considerer 4 days / 3 nights the minimum reasonable time to spend in any of the different bioregions of Venezuela. Additional days or combinations with these Itineraries are perfectly possible. There are some remote and almost inaccessible areas in this country. To visit places like some Tepuis, the Colombian border or to explore the Orinoco Highlands (Neblina) probably will require the logistic for an expedition (Boat trips, Helicopters, Campings, etc). If your requirement is under our possibilities we will be happy to help you, otherwise we will put you in contact with the people or organizations working on those areas, however, all the major centers of endemism of Venezuela will be included in these Itineraries appropriately, following accessible routes and under reasonable accommodation and safety (Paria, Pantepui, Tamá, Perijá, Amazon Territory, Andes, etc.) Other optional tours are Canaima National Park, The Roraima Mount, and Los Roques Islands N.P.

Suggestions: Venezuela like other Latin American countries is considerer a third world country and as a result of it you are likely to experience areas of amazing new wealth with remarkable richness or poorness. Some regions present illiteracy (Orinoco Delta, Amazon) not electricity or hot water (remote areas in the Andes, Llanos or Amazon Territory) and generally many things are not that proper or pre-dictible like in some western European countries (here, the red light is only a suggestion for some people) but if you are flexible and open minded you will enjoy the sense of freedom and brutal beauty of regions like the High Andes, the Orinoco Plains (Llanos) or the immense Amazon rainforest. If this is your first trip to the tropics you should follow some general rules: Don´t touch anything, and if the Indians run, run! (just kidding…!) of course there are some insects, snakes, pirannhas and intelligent mosquitos, but obviously if you follow your common sense and the general precautions for any tropical country you will be allright. If you are under medical prescription, bring in off pills to cover every day of your holyday. If you require a particular care with meals let us know to treat you appropriately. Generally travel checks are well accepted in major cities and also dollars, but we recommend to exchange a reasonable amount of your money (completely up to you) into the local currency for personal expenses (tips, laundry, phone calls, souvenirs, etc.)
